The collection Human Rights, Politics and Law contains twenty of the author's papers (four co-authored) in Croatian and English, which were originally published in domestic or foreign journals or in anthologies, or in Croatian translations of works by well-known contemporary philosophers of politics and/or law, in the period from 1996 to 2025. The papers thematically continue the author's earlier books Language, Law and Morality (1986) and Human Rights (1996).
In the papers in the collection, the author considers topics from contemporary political and legal philosophy and human rights theory, from multiculturalism, political liberalism, nationalism, through thought experiments in political and legal philosophy, the definition of law and contemporary theories of law and theories of punishment, to the human right to euthanasia and the interpretation of human rights by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia.
Miomir Matulović is a full professor of law (retired). He was the head of the Department of Theory of Law and State, Philosophy of Law, Human Rights and Public Policy at the Faculty of Law, University of Rijeka.
He is also the editor of the collection of papers by Nenad Miščević, Thought Experiments in Political Philosophy. Essays 2012–2022 (2026).
